Natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, rational numbers? Watch the video below, to help you understand: Watch this video for help understanding how we can write a repeating decimal as a fraction. Dear Math Students:
Pay attention to whole numbers in fractions and in decimals! Many of you seem to ignore that they are WHOLES (to the left of the decimal), and not PIECES (to the right of the decimal). Also remember that those whole numbers mean that your percent should be over 100%. 100% is 100/100 = 1/1 or one whole, or 1.00 200% is 200/100 = 2/1 or two wholes, or 2.00. 350% is 350/100 = three wholes and a half, or 3.50. 425% is 425/100 = four wholes (400/100) and a quarter (25/100), or 4.25 To go from percent to a decimal, move the decimal place to the left two places (which is actually dividing by 100, because you are removing the % sign). Today we compared densities and properties of different minerals. Density is measured by the formula: D=M/V Compare and Order Fractions, Decimals, and Percents 129-135.
Homework for Monday: Review (Mid-Chapter Check p128) New (p134, 10-15) Students were put into groups today, for this week's look into Russian history, culture, and politics. Groups will make a poster, and present their findings later this week. Along with their poster and presentation, each group must come up with three test questions: a multiple choice question, worth 1pt; a yes/no question, with a why/why not component, worth 2pts; and an open response question, worth 3pts. The questions from each group will comprise the final unit test. Below is the list of topics that groups will be covering:
